Scene of the Week: Home Alone - Mom Finds Kevin

As Christmas gets closer, it seemed logical to pick a scene from yet another Christmas film to add to our Scene of the Week segment. When I try to think of my favourite Christmas movie, I always come to choosing Home Alone. Home Alone is a film that really captures the Christmas spirit and is the movie I looked forward to watching every year. Not only is the film funny, it is extremely heart-warming, which is portrayed brilliantly in the scene where Kevin McCallister’s Mom fi

Scene of the Week: Gladiator - “My Name Is Maximus Decimus Meridius”

Another week and another scene, with this week’s Scene of the Week being one many people will be familiar with, the unmasking of a gladiator, who everyone thought had died, in the face of his attempted murderer. Gladiator, starring former actors of the week, Russell Crowe, as the Gladiator himself and Joaquin Phoenix as the evil roman emperor, Commodus, is, without a doubt, a modern great. This is a film which ticks all the boxes when it comes to movie making, with this scene

Scene Review: The Empire Strikes Back - "I am your father."

If there was one scene everyone knows, my money would be on this one. Believe it or not, there are people that haven’t seen any Star Wars, and yet, still quote/reference this scene. I was born in ‘88, 8 years after this film was made, and because of its popularity I was unfortunate to have grown up with Star Wars being established already, and therefore saw this film already well aware Vader was Luke’s father. However, I’ve now seen ESB many times, and the impact is undoubted

Scene Review: The Happening - "I am talking to a plastic plant"

Right, I am convinced The Happening is meant to be a comedy. It has to be. I just don’t get why Mark Wahlberg’s acting is so bad in this film. I know he isn't the best actor in the world, but christ he is definitely a lot better than this, as proved in The Fighter. Therefore, this leads me to believe he is in on this joke as well. This takes me to the incredible scene which shows us Mark Wahlberg's character ‘Elliot Moore’ finding himself in a room with a plant. Now for anyon

Scene Review: The Dark Knight Final Scene

Here we have it, our new section to Life of Films, an area where we break down and review scenes from movies. These scenes can either be one of our all time favourites, generally iconic, or scenes that were just so bad we have no idea how they ever made the final cut. To start off this new section to the site, I thought I would talk about my favourite scene of all time. This is the final scene in The Dark Knight where we see Batman talking to Commissioner Gordon on how they w
