Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer

So here we have it, the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and I have to say i’m not too impressed. The first film didn't really blow me away, except from that mental scene in the church, where Colin Firth is an absolute badass. I felt it was a bit silly, and this film looks to follow in the same footsteps, which is a real shame as I do love Mathew Vaughn. What he did with X-Men: First Class, and Kick-Ass was phenomenal, they are 2 of my favourite films.

So the trailer starts off with showing us a little glimpse of the first film, and having Colin Firth’s character ‘Harry Hart’ speaking in the background, about what it means to be a Kingsman. As I have said before, I enjoy it when the studio do stuff like this, draw from previous chapters, as it gives a feeling on continuity. It then quickly jumps to the present day, where we see Eggsy (Aaron Egerton), clearly a fully fledged Kingsman now, this then follows to what seems like the Kingsman HQ being hit by a missile, and completely getting destroyed. I find stuff like this really bad story telling. It’s as if the writers think how can we make this worse for our heroes than the previous films, oh we’ll just destroy their home, and make it look as though they have been completed wiped out. They did a similar thing with Iron Man 3. I find it boring, as we all know the hero will win in the end, so why can’t they think of something a little bit unique to challenge them.

Then the trailer just goes into overdrive, with Sinatra’s ‘My Way’ playing in the background, and loads of flashes to different parts of the film, where you can't really keep up with what is going on, therefore doesn’t give you much to get excited for, or any clue to what the film is really about. For me this isn’t the kind of trailer I enjoy. If you take the Thor: Ragnarok trailer for example, that had flow, you could tell what the film was going to be about, and left your feeling excited, as it teased real footage. I’d like to go into that fact we see some well respected actors/actresses like Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges, but there’s nothing to really say. They may as well have just been photos.

Finally the trailer comes to an end teasing us with that Harry Hart is still alive, and that some how a bullet to the head in the first film did not kill him. God knows how they are going to twist this one, but to be honest i’m not really looking forward to it, as I can already tell you it’s just going to be over exaggerated.

For me this just isn't a film i’m really looking forward to. It’s a film made to visually impress, by doing over the top ridiculous stunts, using a tonne of CGI, but personally I require a little bit more.
